“So now, brethren, I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.” —Acts 20:32 (NKJV)
“I just feel tired of everything. My zeal is burning low. My enthusiasm is drying up, and I don’t know what else to do. I don’t even feel like coming to church or praying at all.” You will hear these statements from many people today who wonder what is going wrong in their lives. What they are actually experiencing is a lack of God’s Word.
Whenever you notice your zeal lagging and your passion for God fading, it means you are running dry of His Word. You must feed on Scripture to get back on your feet. Many people do not understand that the Word of God is fuel. Just as it builds you up, it also refuels you and keeps you going both spiritually and physically. When people ignore the Word and fail to study and meditate on it, they dry up and wonder what happened.
The truth is, nothing went wrong; they simply abandoned the Word and its ministry in their lives. To avoid reaching this state, make up your mind to study and meditate on the Word of God continually. When it becomes a part of you, it strengthens your faith and brings your hope alive. Without the Word of God, it is incredibly difficult to fight off depression or hopelessness.
It is the Word that keeps you going and helps you see possibilities instead of impossibilities. I encourage you to prioritize the Scriptures today. Just as oil is vital to a car engine, the Word of God is essential to your spirit, soul, and body. It keeps your entire being in shape, alive, and ready to face any issue in life. Do not ignore God’s Word; cherish it and give it a place of prominence. It is the light you need in the dark (Psalm 119:130) and the strength to keep running. God bless you!
