Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass. —Psalm 37:4-5 (NKJV)

Beloved, do you know why people get depressed and lose their passion for living? Often, it is a lack of trust in God. When people do not trust God enough to handle their situations or truly believe He cares, they slip into depression. They forget that depression is never the solution to the challenges they face.

If you want to defeat depression and overcome it completely, the secret is trusting God with your life. What does that mean? It means abandoning yourself totally to the King of kings. Know that He is God, and He can do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or think. You must cast your cares upon Him because He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7). In fact, part of trusting the Lord is letting go of your worries and allowing Him to put things in place for you.

In our opening text, the Bible gives us a clear command: Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass. —Psalm 37:4-5 (NKJV). Did you see that? These are not mere words; they hold immense power. The question is, do you believe them? If you do, stake your life on them, because God will surely give you the desires of your heart.

I encourage you today to trust the Lord with all your heart, as it is the secret to overcoming depression. Trusting Him will calm your heart and give you a sense of peace. It builds your confidence and helps you make the right decisions. Refuse to give in to negative thoughts.

Sometimes the enemy will whisper, “You are alone in this matter. Your world is crumbling, and you are failing.” Ignore those lies and hold tightly to the Scriptures. Focus on promises like this: Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. —Isaiah 41:10 (NKJV). If you gather promises like this from the Bible, dwell on them every day, and simply believe, depression will flee. You will triumph over every situation in your life. Hallelujah!
