hands, pray, prayer

His sons used to take turns giving a banquet, to which all the others would come, and they always invited their three sisters to join them. The morning after each banquet, Job would get up early and offer sacrifices for each of his children in order to purify them. He always did this because he thought that one of them might have sinned by insulting God unintentionally. —Job 1:4-5 (GNB)

When we take a close look at the Scriptures, we see that Job never took intercession lightly. He understood its immense importance and embraced it as a vital responsibility. Knowing his children might have unknowingly offended God, he offered sacrifices on their behalf and made it his duty to pray for them continually.

In the same way, God wants you to commit to praying for your family members and sowing seeds on their behalf. Do not become so consumed with your own needs that you forget the people closest to you. Earnest prayer can avert tragedies, prevent problems, heal marriages, and resolve family disputes. All it takes is a willingness to go the extra mile in prayer.

Make a conscious decision today to dedicate time regularly to pray for your family. Remember, these prayers should be unconditional. Sometimes, when we are at odds with a family member, we withhold our prayers. It should never be that way; we ought to intercede for them whether we are on good terms or not. As the Bible instructs:

Help carry one another’s burdens, and in this way you will obey the law of Christ. —Galatians 6:2 (GNB)

Get to work and establish regular prayer times for your loved ones. Your prayers will uphold them and invite God’s mercy into areas where they may have strayed. Shine your light within your family through intercession, and let the salvation of the Lord cover your home like never before. Praise God!

Today’s Rhema

If you stand in the gap for your family in the place of prayer, the devil can never put a gap between you and your loved ones.

Prayer

Thank you, Father, for the marvelous lessons we learn from the Scriptures. I am deeply grateful for the wisdom that emanates from Your Word. I declare that from now on, I will always offer prayers for my family members, in season and out of season, in the name of Jesus. Amen!
