Job’s sons used to take it in turns to give a feast, to which all the others would come, and they always invited their three sisters to join them. The morning after each feast, Job would get up early and offer sacrifices for each of his children in order to purify them. He always did this because he thought that one of them might have sinned by insulting God unintentionally. —Job 1:4-5 (GNB)
There is always so much to learn from the scriptures. Recently, while studying the life of Job, I came across the text above, and it transformed my life. I learned a highly valuable lesson that day: the immense importance of praying for our family members. Interceding for your family is a vital practice because it goes a long way toward preserving them, even in ways you might never realize.
Beloved, if there is one crucial habit to develop in your life, it is spending time interceding for your loved ones. When you stand in the gap for them in prayer, the enemy cannot place a gap between you and your family. Society today is filled with divided households where unity has long departed simply because no one is praying. Calamities strike many families daily—people are dying, losing their jobs, and seeing their marriages fail—often due to a lack of prayer.
However, if you make a conscious decision to start praying for your family, many of these negative occurrences will stop. Choose today to be the one who stands in the gap for your relatives. Praise God!
