And being let go, they went to their own companions and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said to them. So when they heard that, they raised their voice to God with one accord… —Acts 4:23-24 (NKJV)
Having established the importance of joining a group in your local church, the question I have for you today is this: which fellowship do you belong to? How committed are you to this group? Are you just a face in the crowd, or are you a dedicated member? For some people, these questions might sound ridiculous. They simply want to attend church without joining any service department. They prefer to remain in the background, saying things like, “I am just a quiet person, and I want to keep it that way. I am not ready to do anything in the church; I just want to attend service, fellowship, and go home quietly.”
While that may sound like a comfortable approach, it is not how God wants us to live as Christians. Imagine if the early apostles and followers of Jesus behaved that way; we would not have the Gospel today. We would not be enjoying the liberty of the Spirit that we now experience in Christ. These early believers did not only believe in Jesus; they also believed in the work He came to accomplish. They gave their time, resources, and efforts by gathering frequently, breaking bread together, and praying constantly. The Bible says:
Many of them believed his message and were baptized, and about three thousand people were added to the group that day. They spent their time in learning from the apostles, taking part in the fellowship, and sharing in the fellowship meals and the prayers. —Acts 2:41-42 (GNB)
Did you see that? They not only believed, but they also stayed with the group and spent time together. This is exactly how God wants us to live. You cannot live an authentic Christian life in isolation. You must identify with other believers and start serving in any capacity you can. By doing this, you become known by fellow believers and position yourself under the guidance of spiritual authority. You will partake in corporate blessings and anointing. Most importantly, you will find protection, because community brings you spiritual immunity in ways you never imagined.
If you do not belong to a fellowship, or if you lack commitment to your current service group, I encourage you to retrace your steps. Now is the right time to identify with a group in your church. In the long run, you will be the one who benefits the most. Do not be an isolated Christian; get involved and connect with the saints of God. Through them, you are positioned to walk in God’s plan for your life, and through you, they are positioned to receive God’s best. Participate actively in church programs, both online and offline, to truly prove you are part of the family. Failing to join a group in your local church means robbing yourself—and others—of God’s beautiful blessings. Hallelujah!
Today’s Rhema
Being in a spiritual family positions you to walk in God’s plan for your life and positions others to receive God’s best for their lives!
Confession for the Day
By the power of God’s Spirit, I refuse to journey alone as a Christian. I choose to be in a spiritual family, and by the power of God’s Spirit, the ability to be committed to my spiritual family rests on me mightily. This causes me to be devoted to the things of the Spirit, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
