For she said to herself, “If only I may touch His garment, I shall be made well.” —Matthew 9:21 (NKJV)
In today’s world, which is often filled with suffering, corruption, manipulation, and wickedness, it matters what we say to ourselves. The things you tell yourself largely determine the outcome of the challenges you face. Ultimately, your internal dialogue decides your victory or your defeat. If you want your life’s results to be outstanding, you must learn to talk to yourself. More importantly, you must learn to speak the right words over your own life.
Refuse to talk yourself down or be negative. Sadly, many people have given up and ended their lives simply because they convinced themselves there was no reason to keep living. They allowed negative thoughts to take over, which only led to tragedy rather than a solution. You must understand that you are your own life coach, and you need yourself more than you need anyone else. You hold the power to either encourage or discourage yourself.
Therefore, make a conscious decision to be there for yourself and offer the right counsel. I often think of King David, who was once greatly distressed. His family had been taken captive, and his own men were contemplating stoning him. Despite the surrounding chaos, King David strengthened and encouraged himself in the Lord (1 Samuel 30:6). By doing this, he shifted into the right frame of mind and began looking for a solution.
He didn’t wait for anyone else to come along and lift his spirits; he took responsibility for his own encouragement. This shows us that the role we play in our own lives cannot be overemphasized. If we fail to give ourselves the right counsel, we risk missing out on the dreams and visions God has placed in our hearts. Always remember to counsel yourself wisely, as it determines how far you will go.

Confession for the Day
I decree and declare that henceforth, I am saying the right things to myself and encouraging myself in the Lord daily. I refuse to speak negatively over my life. No matter how shaky things might be, I say the right things to myself because I know who I am and I understand my role in my own life, in the name of Jesus. Amen!
