“…for this is the will of God, your sanctification…that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honour…” —1 Thessalonians 4:3-4 (NKJV)

As a child of God, do you know that one thing God desires deeply for you is to be sanctified? Have you ever been told that this is an integral part of your walk with God? Well, it is, and that is why God sent His Son, Jesus, to wash us clean from our sins in His own blood that we may be presentable before the Father.

“…And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.” —1 Corinthians 6:11 (NKJV)

This means God has already done His part to ensure we are cleansed of all filth and unrighteousness. Now, we have a role to play to appropriate this sanctification in our lives and stay sanctified.

One area of our lives that can easily be polluted by wrong information and ideas is our thought life. A person who does not guard their thoughts will naturally think and imagine the wrong things. In most cases, the devil plans it this way because he knows the power of your thoughts. He understands that if he can pollute your thoughts, he can pollute your life. For as a man thinks in his heart, so is he (Proverbs 23:7)

To avoid this trap, you must make a conscious decision to sanctify the thoughts that enter your mind. The devil will frequently throw negative thoughts at you, trying to get you to harbor them. However, you must remain vigilant and refuse to allow wrong thoughts to linger. You must reach the point where you speak words of truth aloud to redirect your mind, as this will keep your thoughts clean.

Prayer

Thank You, Heavenly Father, for showing me so much love by sending Your Son, Jesus, to wash and cleanse me from all filth and unrighteousness. I am grateful, oh Lord, for my sanctification in Christ Jesus. I declare that I will continue to stay sanctified in every area of my life, including my thought process, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
