“And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, ‘Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.’” —Genesis 2:16–17 (NKJV)
Looking at the scripture above, we are reminded of the holy instruction God gave Adam. He told him he could freely eat fruit from any tree in the garden, except for one specific tree: the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. One crucial detail we must understand is that the tree of life was also in the garden, and God never forbade Adam from eating its fruit.
The Bible records, “And out of the ground the Lord God made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.” —Genesis 2:9 (NKJV). This means it was always God’s plan for Adam to partake of the tree of life, yet Adam never did. Instead, he chose to eat from the very tree God warned would bring death. Adam had a choice to make, and his wrong decision brought about his death, both spiritually and physically. If he had fully grasped the consequences, he likely would have avoided it, but the choice was already made.
The significance of this story is that in this new season, we must actively avoid making the wrong choices. The decisions we make today will have a profound effect on our tomorrow. We cannot afford to toy with our lives by making choices that put our future in jeopardy. Therefore, be watchful and choose wisely, because your life will always go in the direction of the choices you make.

If you choose wrongly today, you destroy the outcome of tomorrow; therefore, make the right choices while you can!
Prayer
I thank You, Lord, because I have the mind of Christ; therefore, the ability to make the right choices is within me. Your wisdom is at work in my life. As I choose wisely, I make progress and produce results, in the name of Jesus. Amen!
