But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say? — Luke 6:46 (NKJV)
As a believer, when you received Jesus into your life, He became your Lord. But do you really know what it means for Jesus to be the Lord of your life? Sadly, many believers do not fully grasp this concept. They ceremoniously call Him Lord, yet they do not submit to Him, nor is He a priority in their daily lives. Is this how God wants us to live? The answer is no; God expects better from us.
What does it mean when we say Jesus is the Lord of our lives? To understand this, you must first understand the meaning of the word “lord.” By definition, a lord is a person with power, authority, or control, acting as a ruler or master. If you say Jesus is the Lord of your life, it means He is your Master and your Ruler. He owns you and everything that belongs to you. This means you now live for Him rather than for yourself, doing everything He commands and living the life He desires for you.
Given this description, do you honestly think you have been submissive to Him as your Master? If you haven’t, it is time to consider submitting yourself fully to Him and actively following His commands. In our opening text, Jesus asked a spectacular question: But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say? — Luke 6:46 (NKJV). This lets us know that it is never enough to simply call Him Lord; you must follow His instructions. As you continue your walk with Jesus, I encourage you to be fully submissive to Him, because you will ultimately reap the joyful benefits. Praise God!
Today’s Rhema
If Jesus is truly the Lord of your life, stop living for yourself and start living for Him by doing the things He commands.
Prayer
Thank You, Father, for opening my eyes to the truth about the Lordship of Jesus. I choose this day to be wholly given to Him. I choose to live my life in total submission to His authority, rulership, and commands.
