…pray without ceasing… —1 Thessalonians 5:17 (NKJV)

One thing that many people have not yet realized is that prayer is a continuous process. Some think prayer is just something we do whenever we face a challenge, and once the challenge passes, there is no need to pray until further notice. Others believe that once they have prayed, they should stop and wait to see results. However, these are erroneous beliefs the enemy uses to weaken our prayer lives.

Beloved, if there is one thing you must hold dear to your heart, it is the continuity of prayer. You have to understand that prayer is not a formula or a magic potion to make things happen. Instead, prayer is fellowship and communication with God, your Maker; it is what we do to strengthen our relationship with Him. In short, prayer is a way of life. Believe it or not, prayer is a continuous journey, and its power lies in its continuity.

Over the years, I have come across people who gave up on prayer because they felt they were not getting results. Unknown to them, the real reason their results did not come was because their approach was wrong. When you ask them if they have prayed about the condition they are facing, they will often say, “Yes, I have prayed,” and that is exactly where the problem lies. As long as your prayer testimony remains in the past tense, you will never see the kind of results you ought to see.

Your prayer testimony should not be in the past tense, but in the present continuous tense. If asked whether you have prayed about an issue, your answer should be, “Yes, I have prayed, and I am still praying.” As long as you are waking up and going to sleep, your prayers should be an everyday affair. Even after you have seen results, you are expected to continue in prayer, as this helps prevent future issues from arising.

The Psalmist understood this, which is why he said, …because He has inclined His ear to me, therefore I will call upon Him as long as I live. —Psalm 116:2 (NKJV). Even the disciples of Jesus understood this. The Bible records that after Jesus ascended to heaven, they gathered in the upper room and …continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers. —Acts 1:14 (NKJV).

Therefore, make a conscious decision today to reorganize your prayer life and use the right approach. Let your prayers be continuous, steady, and steadfast; it is the key to consistent results.

The power of prayer lies in its continuity!

Prayer

Thank You, Father, for opening my eyes to understand the secret of prayer. I declare that the grace to pray continually is granted to me. Henceforth, I will no longer pray just because I want to see results; I will pray because it is fellowship. My fellowship with God puts me over in life. Hallelujah!
