But if any of you lack wisdom, you should pray to God, who will give it to you; because God gives generously and graciously to all. —James 1:5 (GNT)
Beloved, have you ever been in a situation where you didn’t know what to do? Well, you are not alone. It happens to everyone, but the good news is that you don’t have to break under the pressure. There is something you can still do, and I will show you.
When you don’t know what to do, begin by praying instead of letting fear make the decision for you. Tell God plainly what is troubling you, and ask Him to help you understand what is wise and right.
Now, when you pray, be specific. Explain the choices in front of you, the things you are worried about, and what you hope will happen. Ask God to help you choose what is honest, loving, and in line with His Word. After you pray, take time to think and listen, because He will surely respond with either an instruction or guidance on what to do next.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Never rely on what you think you know. Remember the Lord in everything you do, and he will show you the right way. —Proverbs 3:5–6 (GNT)
Did you see that? So take time to pray and read the Bible. As you read, consider whether the choice before you will help or harm you and others. Seek advice from a mature believer you trust, especially if the decision is important. Be willing to listen, but take responsibility for your choice. Prayer, Scripture, and good advice can help you make a thoughtful decision.
When you can see a wise next step, take it. You may not know how everything will turn out, but you can ask God for help again as you go. If you realize you made a mistake, admit it, learn from it, and seek His guidance for what to do next, and you will surely come out of that situation victorious.
