“I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who will do all My will.” — Acts 13:22 (NKJV)

Studying the life of King David reveals a man who truly sought God’s heart. He demonstrated this through his words and the intense passion he displayed for God and His house. The Bible records God’s own testimony of him: “I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who will do all My will.” — Acts 13:22 (NKJV). God made this statement because of the intimate way David walked with Him. David wasn’t just zealous; he cared deeply about what God desired at every stage of his life.

Can God speak about you the same way He spoke about David? You might think, “Well, I’m not David,” but the truth remains that we don’t need to be David to possess his qualities. If God gave such a powerful testimony about him, we should study David’s life to emulate what God saw in him. Examining his journey shows that his love for God was truly unique. His passion for God’s presence and His house was remarkable. Though he made mistakes, he always recognized them and immediately made amends.

David’s deep concern for God’s desires is particularly striking in his ambition to build God a house. He was exceptionally zealous for his time, and God wants us to be just as exceptional today. As you continue your walk with God, make a conscious decision to be a person whom God can boldly describe as being after His own heart. God wants you to live every day pursuing the things He cares about. He wants you to hunger and thirst for righteousness and to be invested in impacting lives.
