“I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who will do all My will.” — Acts 13:22 (NKJV)
We live in a world where love for God grows cold daily. People no longer care about what God wants or how He feels. Instead, they focus entirely on their own desires and emotions. The counsel and statutes of God are no longer the standards people choose to live by. They prefer to follow their opinions and fleshly desires.
The Bible warns us of this exact shift in priorities. We read that in the last days, difficult times will come because people will prioritize themselves over their Creator. The list of worldly behaviors is long and serves as a sobering reminder of the environment we navigate every day.
“But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God…” — 2 Timothy 3:1-4 (NKJV)
However, these verses should not describe a Christian’s life. Scripture warns us about the state of the world as the end approaches so we are not caught off guard. This warning helps us keep our hearts and affections set on God despite the surrounding chaos. We must intentionally pursue the things God desires and values.
Beloved, I ask you: in all your pursuits, are you still after God’s heart? Or has your love for Him grown cold over time? While some may answer yes and others no, I encourage you to review this question carefully. Understanding its importance will help you refocus and set your priorities correctly. Praise God!
