Christ’s message in all its richness must live in your hearts. Teach and instruct one another with all wisdom… —Colossians 3:16 (GNT)
As you grow in your relationship with God, you must learn to give His Word a permanent place in your heart. God’s Word should not be something you remember only when you attend church or encounter a difficult situation. It should become an important part of your daily thinking, decisions, conversations, and relationships.
Unfortunately, many believers hear God’s Word regularly but give little attention to studying it, understanding it, and applying it. As a result, the truths they hear do not always influence the way they live. However, God wants the message of Christ to dwell richly within you so that it continually shapes your character and spiritual growth.
Someone might ask, “But how can Christ’s message dwell richly in my heart?” You must deliberately make room for it through regular Bible study, meditation, prayer, and obedience. Do not be satisfied with simply reading a passage and moving on without considering its meaning. Take time to understand what it teaches about God, what it reveals about your life, and how you can apply it. Remember, the Bible says:
Your word is a lamp to guide me and a light for my path. —Psalm 119:105 (GNT)
God’s Word provides guidance for your decisions and helps you recognize the difference between what pleases Him and what leads you away from His will.
Therefore, make a conscious decision to fill your heart with the message of Christ. Set aside time to study the Scriptures and reflect on what you learn. Memorize verses that strengthen your faith, share biblical encouragement with others, and allow the Word to correct your attitudes when necessary. Do not allow the noise and distractions of daily life to crowd out your fellowship with God. The more you give His Word room in your heart, the more it can influence your conduct, strengthen your faith, and help you grow in wisdom.
