that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine — Ephesians 4:14 (NKJV)

We live in a world that has become greatly corrupted. It is filled with endless activities that can easily carry us away as Christians. However, we have a responsibility to stand our ground and build our lives on the moral standards God has given us through Scripture. If we live by His Word, we will certainly escape the corruption heavily at work in the world today. The devil uses worldly distractions to influence God’s people negatively, and sadly, many have fallen for this trick.

But you must choose to be different. Make a conscious decision to stick to God’s Word and let it guide you. When His counsel is your primary influence, nothing else can sway you. Not even your friends or your circumstances will be able to lead you astray, because God’s Word is the greatest influence of all.

I encourage you to be the influence and not the influenced. Let your lifestyle stand out so that people see Jesus in you. Jesus in you is the difference you need to make in this world. No matter how much you are tempted to deviate from God’s plan, refuse to go with the flow. Stay anchored to His Word, because your future lies within it.

Sometimes, negative influences might be friends or people around you who want you to join them as they tread the wrong path. Refuse to consider their advice and stay with God’s counsel instead. Rather than being influenced by them, use God’s Word to become the influence yourself. This is the only way to truly make an impact in the world today.

God’s dream is for us to mature in our knowledge of His Son. When we do, we will no longer be children, carried by the waves and blown about by every shifting wind of deceitful teaching. Take heed, for this is the will of the Lord for you in Christ Jesus: that you be the influence, not the influenced.

Today’s Rhema

When God’s Word dwells in you richly, it becomes your influence. When it is your influence, you become the influence, not the influenced!

Prayer

Thank You, Heavenly Father, for Your Word and Your counsel, which dwell in me richly and become my influence. I declare that Your Word continues to be my shield and buckler. Whatever I do, Your Word remains my guide and my influence, causing me to be the influence in my world. In the name of Jesus, Amen!
