You should each give, then, as you have decided, not with regret or out of a sense of duty; for God loves the one who gives gladly. — 2 Corinthians 9:7 (GNT)

God frequently expects us to give lavishly and cheerfully. Scripture reminds us that He loves a cheerful giver and always makes His grace abound toward us. He desires our giving to benefit us deeply, intending for our generosity to become a consistent source of blessing. However, for us to experience these spiritual rewards, we must follow several vital keys.

First, you must give in faith, because generosity without faith produces no spiritual results. Instead, a lack of faith only breeds regret and complaints. Over the years, I have seen many people give only to end up complaining about their offering later. This attitude resembles a farmer sowing a seed only to dig it up a few days later through complaints. When faith mixes with your giving, it provokes a supernatural harvest far more valuable than anything money can buy.

Secondly, you must approach giving with discipline. While God expects your generosity, He also desires for you to remain wise and orderly. This means the Holy Spirit should lead your giving while you responsibly budget for your regular expenses. For instance, business owners should not use their essential operating capital for giving unless clearly directed by God. Separating your seed from your regular expenses maintains financial order and guards your heart against regret.

Finally, your generosity must always be accompanied by a righteous expectation. While some harbor unrealistic expectations, a true scriptural expectation is anchored directly to God’s promises. Jesus highlighted this spiritual law clearly during His earthly ministry.

Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you. — Luke 6:38 (NKJV)

Therefore, confidently expect to receive a harvest, keeping in mind that giving is an act of love rather than a commercial transaction. Your harvest will always correspond directly to the measure with which you sow. When you follow these divine principles, you will experience joy and fulfillment every single time you give. Praise God!

Abba Father, thank You for reminding me of the importance of giving correctly. I declare that the grace to give with the right motives and principles is at work in me. Therefore, I am reaping a bountiful harvest every time I give, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
