Very early the next morning, long before daylight, Jesus got up and left the house. He went out of town to a lonely place, where he prayed. —Mark 1:35 (GNB)
Beloved, do you want to grow in your walk with God and access new dimensions in Him? Then you must learn to practice separation. Separation, which is the act of moving away from people just to spend time with God, is one practice that can help you evolve in your faith. It will help you stay inspired rather than spiritually dry. Most importantly, it will help you enjoy a rich fellowship with God that is uninterrupted by anyone or anything.
Jesus practiced this over and over when He walked this earth. As a matter of fact, this intentional isolation was a consistent habit of His, and it serves as an eye-opener for us today. On one occasion, the Bible says, Very early the next morning, long before daylight, Jesus got up and left the house. He went out of town to a lonely place, where he prayed. —Mark 1:35 (GNB). This was not an isolated incident. The Bible also notes, But he would go away to lonely places, where he prayed. —Luke 5:16 (GNB). No wonder He was able to effectively carry out His earthly ministry before paying the ultimate price.
If you are tired of your current situation and want to have genuine encounters with God that will change your life, destiny, and walk with Him, I encourage you to practice separation. Some people call this a personal retreat. Whatever you call it, learn to spend time alone with God. This time does not have to be long; it could be for an hour, two, or more. Whatever you can give, ensure you are consistent. As you do, the tangible presence of the Spirit of God will be mighty in your life, keeping you on fire and attracting the change you desire.
Begin today to spend time alone with God. Break the habit of always needing people around you, because it will drain you spiritually and leave you too busy to hear Him. This does not mean you should completely cut yourself off from others, as that would be too extreme. Instead, be like Jesus, who knew exactly when to spend time with men and when to spend time with God. He maintained a perfect balance, and so should you. Hallelujah!
