“Now the word of the Lord came to Samuel, saying, ‘I greatly regret that I have set up Saul as king, for he has turned back from following Me, and has not performed My commandments…’” — 1 Samuel 15:10-11 (NKJV)

We live in an incredibly busy world. Everyone and everything seems to be moving at a frantic pace, and those who don’t keep up are often left behind. Since no one wants to be sidelined, business owners work tirelessly to ensure profit and progress. Similarly, employees dedicatedly serve their organizations with deep commitment. We see people pouring immense energy into their careers across every field imaginable.

Whether you work as a doctor, lawyer, teacher, engineer, or artist, hard work generally pays off. As we grow in our professions, we experience God’s gracious blessings, which bring promotion and comfort. However, a vital question remains: when success arrives, will you still remember God as your source? Will you still make time for His work and spend quality time receiving His counsel? Will you maintain your regard and respect for His Word?

Unfortunately, many believers today fail this test. The moment God begins to bless them, they distance themselves from Him. The greater the blessing, the farther they drift from the One who made it all possible. I am not merely sharing stories I have heard; I am describing real-life situations I have witnessed repeatedly. This is clearly not how God wants us to live.

His blessings are intended to draw us closer to Him, not keep us away. Sadly, for many, those very blessings have become barriers. This is often why God allows seasons of affliction—to turn our hearts back to Him. If you truly want to sustain God’s blessings and avoid the pitfalls of comfort, you must remember the Lord and create systems to consistently return to His presence.

When you examine the life of Jesus, you see that He practiced this regularly. On several occasions, He withdrew from the multitudes specifically to spend time with the Father. The results of this practice were evident throughout His ministry. You should emulate this example and watch your life move from glory to glory. Praise God!

Prayer

Father, in the name of Jesus, I thank You because I see that Your plans are to make me strong and great. I declare that as I grow greater, I will use my greatness as an instrument for soul-winning. I will use my success to get closer to You, and I will never be found missing from Your presence. Amen!
