While Jesus was saying this, some messengers came from Jairus’ house and told him, “Your daughter has died. Why bother the Teacher any longer?” Jesus paid no attention to what they said, but told him, “Don’t be afraid, only believe.” —Mark 5:35-36 (GNT)

The Bible tells us the story of a man whose daughter was ill, and he asked Jesus to come and heal her. As they were on their way, news came to the man that his daughter had died and he should not bother the Teacher anymore. Hearing this, one would expect Jesus to say, “Sorry for your loss; go and bury your daughter,” but that was not the case. Instead, Jesus paid no attention to what they said, but told him, “Don’t be afraid, only believe.” —Mark 5:36 (GNT). I have pondered this statement over and over, and I realize the mindset Jesus wants us to have whenever we face difficult or dead situations.

Jesus does not want us to panic or become frantic when we face impossible situations. No matter how challenging a situation may seem, there can still be a way out. The challenge is that when believers face these kinds of difficulties, they often jump to the conclusion that it is the absolute end. They are not always able to see beyond the problem; instead, they simply give up.

But I have good news for you. No matter the difficulty you face or the impossibility that stands before you, always know that God can still make a way. All He is saying to you is, “…don’t be afraid, only believe.” As simple as this might sound, daring to believe can make a huge difference in your life. Therefore, I admonish you today to be anxious for nothing. Instead, hold on to the promises of God, stay in the place of prayer, and watch Him carve out a solution for you in due time. Hallelujah!

Today’s Rhema

Whatever the difficulty, do not be afraid, but believe!

Prayer

Father, I am grateful for Your love and for Your words of wisdom today. I refuse to give in to fear or anxiety. Instead, I choose to walk by faith and not by sight. I choose to tarry in the place of prayer until I get my breakthrough in Jesus’ name. Amen!
