“…the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth…” 1 Timothy 3:15 (NKJV
Over the years, I have heard believers make comments like I do not attend church anymore because I was disappointed by the ones that I attended. Some others have even gone as far as saying, going to church these days is a waste of time but the question is, are these conclusions right? Is it really right to stop attending churches because of one bad experience or the other? Well, the answer is a big No. Refusing to go to church because of some bad experiences is a bad decision to make and should be avoided. The reason is that refusing to go to church because of some bad experiences is like refusing to go to God. Remember, the church is not a man’s idea and it was not meant for perfect people. It was designed for making people perfect. It is like a Hospital and the people you will find there are people who have come to learn about perfection and be made perfect. Refusing to go to church because you had a bad experience with someone who came to be perfected, is an insensitive thing to do, and trust me, God will not stand with you on that.
Therefore, as you journey in your Christian walk, refuse to neglect the church no matter what happens. What you stand to gain in the church is far greater than the offenses you may experience in the church. Remember, according to Paul the Apostle, the church is “… the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth….” 1 Timothy 3:15 (NKJV). This means, how you behave towards the church goes a long way to determine how God will relate with you and the truth that will make you free can only be found in the church. So, embrace the church and do not neglect the church. It is true that there are some churches out there that are deceiving people and doing some nefarious activities, but those are not the kind of churches, I am talking about. I am talking about Bible-believing churches that agree on the person of Jesus Christ and His finished works. I am talking about Spirit-filled churches where you will learn the truth about God and His ways and align with the plan of God for your life. Locate these kinds of churches and identity with them. Connect with them and commit to their activities so that through such connections, God can locate you, guide you and establish you in the faith. Praise God!
