Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. —Proverbs 4:23 (NLT)
Having established the importance of not letting anger control you in the first part of this article, you must now draw the line. Choose who will be in control: you or your emotions. Make up your mind to take charge of your life and your feelings. As long as you live in this world, do not expect things to always go smoothly.
Life’s challenges and heartbreaks are inevitable, and even those who love you might disappoint you. But guess what? You must never allow those things to move you. Take hold of your emotions and control your feelings. Wipe your tears and stop negative thoughts, because they are simply not necessary. Wallowing in them will never bring a solution.
Jesus said something deeply impactful: Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest? —Luke 12:25-26 (NIV). This shows us that uncontrolled emotions will not change anything. Therefore, the best approach is to keep your feelings in check.
When your emotions are under control, it helps you think straight and focus on the right thoughts. It allows you to see situations clearly, maintain your composure, and come up with lasting solutions. Ultimately, it helps you become the person God wants you to be.
So, my dear friend, hear the word of the Lord today. In everything you do or go through, remember to consciously and deliberately keep your emotions in control. This is good and acceptable in the eyes of the Lord.
Today’s Rhema
You must come to a place where you draw the line and choose who will be in control: you or your emotions!
Prayer
Thank You, my Lord and my God, for inspiring me with Your words. I am fired up and strengthened by Your truth today. I declare that from this day forward, my emotions will be under control. I will be the one in charge, not my feelings, in the name of Jesus. Amen!
