Each one, as a good manager of God’s different gifts, must use for the good of others the special gift he has received from God. —1 Peter 4:10 (GNT)

Your local assembly is the church community where you worship and grow with other believers; and God has given you something you can use to help others. You may not believe this, but it’s true.

Do not assume you have nothing to offer just because you are not currently doing anything in the church. Interestingly, there is a lot to be done in the house of the Lord, but you need to look around, see it, and get involved. It could be welcoming someone new, helping prepare the church venue, helping with the church rent, encouraging a member who is struggling, serving in the multimedia department, or praying for others. Small acts of service can make a real difference.

So then, as often as we have the chance, we should do good to everyone, and especially to those who belong to our family in the faith. —Galatians 6:10 (GNT)

Did you see that? So look for practical opportunities to do good to the people in your church and community. If you are unsure how to help, ask a church leader or another trusted member, “Where is help needed?” Choose something suited to your abilities, time, and circumstances, and start with a task you can do reliably.

Serve with a willing heart rather than waiting for praise or recognition. Keep your commitments diligently, work well with others, and be ready to learn. Ask God to show you how to use what you have received for the good of others, and your life will not remain the same.

Today’s Rhema

Look for what needs to be done in your local assembly, use what God has given you, and serve faithfully.

Prayer

Father, thank You for the gifts and abilities You have given me. Show me how to use them to help people in my church. Give me a willing and humble heart to serve faithfully, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
