“….now the Lord blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning; for he had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, one thousand yoke oxen, and one thousand female donkeys….” Job 42:12 (NKJV)

In the opening scripture we see what God did with a man called Job. Job was a very rich man and God considered him a righteous man. But it happened one day that Job lost everything he had. All his children died in one day, he lost his livelihood and was even stricken with a disease on his body. People mocked him, friends rejected him, children threw stones at him, even his wife told him to curse God and die. She said “…do you still hold fast to your integrity? Curse God and die…” Job 2:9 (NKJV). Job, a once wealthy man became a laughing stock in his community. Life the way he knew it had totally changed in one day. But when God was ready to prove Himself in the life of Job, He restored all he had and even gave him children also. There are times in a man’s life when he would have to go through a certain setback. Some say these setbacks are tests from the Lord to see how much we trust Him, and some say the setbacks are for our promotion. But whatever the reasons are that make us go through several challenges in life, we must understand that it’s not the end of the world, it’s not the end of us, and in fact those setbacks mark the beginning of a new era.

I don’t know what you have gone through in the past, I don’t know what you are going through right now, but one thing is sure, you have a future, and the future is greater. So don’t let the past rob you of a bright tomorrow. Do not let the things you went through yesterday deter you from pursuing your dreams and achieving your goals. Just like we have seen in the Bible, Job suffered so much, and lost all that he gathered in wealth and possession, but it took God nothing to restore him, and God didn’t just restore him, he gave him much more than he ever had. And the same God is with us today, ready and willing to give us much more than we ever had or lost. Amen!

Blessed be your holy name oh God! We thank you because you are our possession, you are our wealth and you are our healing. Therefore, we lean on you, knowing that the glory of our tomorrow will supersede the success of our yesterday! Amen!
