“…any who love knowledge want to be told when they are wrong. It is stupid to hate being corrected…” Proverbs 12:1 (GNT)

As you journey in your Christian walk, one of the traits that proves that you are getting spiritually mature is your ability to easily accept correction without getting offended.

In my many years of pastoring, one thing I discovered is that many of God’s people don’t like to receive correction. They just want to hold on to their old behavioral pattern, ideas and lifestyle which are not consistent with the patterns and ideas revealed to us in the scripture. When you try to correct them based on the revealed pattern given to us in the scriptures, they get offended and in most cases, they get hostile, but the question is, is this how God wants us to live our lives? Does He want us to remain at this level? The answer is NO.

Beloved, you must understand that if God is going to change your life, He can only do it through your cooperation. He will not force you to do anything. It is your cooperation that makes it possible for Him to bring the change you need to fulfill your destiny. So, when you are opposed to correction, you will be in one spot for a very long time and be wondering why nothing is happening in your life. This is where many believers have found themselves. They are not willing to cooperate with God so that necessary changes can be effected in their lives. However, your case can be different. Make a conscious decision to subscribe to the ways of the scripture. Any behavioral pattern or lifestyle or ideas that are opposed to the scriptures should be abandoned. Be willing to unlearn and relearn and the best way to do this, is to align your life with the scriptures. Remember,  the Bible says, “…all Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching the truth, rebuking error, correcting faults, and giving instruction for right living, so that the person who serves God may be fully qualified and equipped to do every kind of good deed…” 2 Timothy 3:16‭-‬17 (GNT) Hallelujah!

Confession for the Day

Father, I thank you for revealing this truth to me. I decree henceforth that the grace to accept corrections without offense is granted me and as I function in this grace, I make progress like never before in the name of Jesus. Amen!
