The man from whom the demons had gone out begged Jesus, “Let me go with you.” But Jesus sent him away, saying, “Go back home and tell what God has done for you.” The man went through the town, telling what Jesus had done for him. —Luke 8:38–39 (GNT).

Having established in the first part of this article the importance of speaking about the things Jesus has done for you, someone might ask, is it really necessary? Can’t we just thank God privately and leave it at that? I don’t agree. There are several good reasons to testify publicly, but I’ll give you a few of the most important.

First, speaking of what Jesus has done is something He actually wants us to do. In our opening text Jesus told the healed man to go and tell what God had done for him. That instruction is an encouragement and a commission: God often uses our testimony to build the faith of others. Second, your testimony helps restore shaken faith. Many people today struggle with doubt because the enemy has lied to them about God’s goodness and power. When you stand up and declare what God has done in your life, you expose those lies and show others that God is still working.

Third, testifying affirms your gratitude and acknowledges God’s hand in your life. Genuine gratitude erupts into praise and testimony—when you are truly thankful, it’s hard to keep quiet. That public expression both honours God and confirms your own awareness of His grace. Be wise about how and when you testify—sometimes God calls you to be quiet—but when He opens the door, step out and share what He has done. Testimony not only provokes more miracles in your life, it can also pave the way for breakthroughs in the lives of those who hear.

Today’s Rhema

Every time you testify of God’s goodness, you provoke more testimonies in your life and help others receive theirs.

Confession for the Day

Father, I am grateful for Your goodness. I choose this day to testify of what Jesus has done in my life, and as I do, my testimonies multiply, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
