“And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.” — Deuteronomy 8:18 (NKJV)
As God blesses and elevates you, guard your heart from drifting away from Him. Keep your focus on the Lord, His Word, and His work, drawing ever closer. This is the secret to sustaining every blessing and every height you reach. Too often, believers celebrate a new measure of favor and then misuse their freedom, allowing prosperity to turn them away from God.
King Solomon offers a sobering example. Despite God’s promise of wisdom and wealth, Solomon’s many marriages led him into idolatry. “Solomon married seven hundred princesses and also had three hundred concubines. They made him turn away from God, and by the time he was old they had led him into the worship of foreign gods. He was not faithful to the Lord his God, as his father David had been.” — 1 Kings 11:3–4 (GNT)
His heart continued to stray: “He worshiped Astarte, the goddess of Sidon, and Molech, the god of Ammon. He sinned against the Lord… On the mountain east of Jerusalem he built a place to worship Chemosh…and a place to worship Molech… He also built places of worship where all his foreign wives could burn incense and offer sacrifices to their own gods.” — 1 Kings 11:5–8 (GNT)
These actions revealed Solomon’s complete departure from God’s covenant, and the Lord’s displeasure was certain.
Learn from Solomon’s downfall. When blessings come, deliberately remember the source of every good gift. “And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth…” — Deuteronomy 8:18 (NKJV)
If God remains faithful to you, let your response be unwavering loyalty and faithfulness.
