“…that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind…” – Ephesians 4:22-23 (NKJV).

One thing I’ve noticed about many believers is that they want to be in Christ Jesus yet still maintain the world’s ways of doing things. The ways of the world look so attractive that they find it difficult to let go. But is this what God wants from us? The answer is a big No.

When you received the Lord Jesus Christ into your life, you took off the old man with its fallen nature and put on the new man with a renewed nature. As someone who has put off the old man, it’s crucial to stop following the ways of the old man. The old man loves the world’s pleasures, disregards God’s will, and seeks only to satisfy itself. When self is exalted, you risk losing the real life that the new man brings.

To avoid this, it’s essential to consciously put off the old man and his ways. The Bible explains it this way: “…if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness” – Ephesians 4:21-24 (NKJV).

Did you see that? We are called to put off the old man so we can fully live in the reality of the new life we have received and enjoy the blessings that come with it. So, as you walk with God, make a deliberate decision to leave behind the old man and his ways, embracing the newness of life. Hallelujah!

Today’s Rhema

The old man exalts self, but the new man exalts and glorifies God!
