“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” James 1:17 (NIV)

In the opening scripture we see where the word of God says every good thing comes from God the father of lights. This means we can also say whatever we consider evil or bad, isn’t from God but from the devil and it therefore means that poverty and all the chaos that it brings isn’t from God. We can understand this easily by using Job in the Bible as a case study. He was a very wealthy man and he had all he could possibly need in life. But one day the devil brought an accusation against him before God that if Job lost everything he would curse God. We can see this in Job 1:9-11 (NKJV) where the Bible says “So Satan answered the Lord and said, “Does Job fear God for nothing? Have you not made a hedge around him, around his household, and around all that he has on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land. But now, stretch out your hand and touch all that he has, and he will surely curse you to your face!” The devil was the author and writer of all the evil that befell  Job, God had nothing to do with it.

The devil, the master minder of evil, struck Job with his very favorite attack, “Poverty” and this completely altered the happenings in Job’s life. Job lost all he had in one day including his children. Now, having seen this account in the Bible, we know beyond doubt that poverty is not from God but from the devil. We also know that poverty is a way the devil attacks people that God loves. It is therefore important that as Christians we do not allow poverty to creep into our lives, we should not take poverty as one of those things people need to suffer. No! Not every Christian needs to suffer in poverty to prove his love. When you understand that it’s from the devil and not from God then it means you now know that it’s something you fight against and not accept. So don’t give room to poverty in your life because you have absolutely no reason to be poor. Jesus died for you and when He did, He gave you all that He has which includes wealth. Hallelujah!
