“…and there wasted his possessions on prodigal living….”- Luke 15:13 (NKJV)
Beloved, do you know that as God is blessing you, one of the things that he expects from you is to be able to manage that blessing so that you do not have to go through difficulties tomorrow? Well, in case you do not know, I am telling you now. In our opening scripture when you read from verse eleven of the book of Luke chapter fifteen, the Bible gives an account of a certain man who had two sons. And one day the younger of them said to his father, “Father, give me the portion of goods that falls to me.”…So he divided to them His livelihood. And not many days after, the younger son gathered all together, journeyed to a far country, and there wasted his possessions with prodigal living…” (Luke 15:12-14). He got his own share of the goods quite alright but he could not put it to good use and when the money was over the Bible recorded that he began to be in want. Then he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country, and he sent him into his fields to feed swine…”- Luke 15:14-15 (NKJV). Now, you know why this happened to him? Well, it is simple! It happened because he did not manage the blessing he had received.
Therefore, he had no choice but to feed swine. His condition went so terrible to the point that he began to eat what the pigs were eating. And this is what happens when abundance is abused and used for the wrong things. You start seeing yourself feed from hand to mouth. Beloved, as a child of God, it is imperative for you to know that it matters what you do with the possessions that God blesses you with. Many of God’s people today do not really give this a thought, in fact, many do not even know why God is blessing them. Many today misuse and squander their blessings and forget about the future. But it is important for you to know that to avoid having a difficult future, you must manage today’s abundance so that many days later, you will still have enough to continue to live well without going hungry. Remember, until you manage the blessings of God in your life, God can never add to it. So, be guided and do the needful. Praise God!
