lion, teeth, roar

“…be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom to he may devour…” 1 Peter 5:4 (NKJV)

When you take a very close look at the opening text, it communicates a very strong message that must be taken seriously. It says, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom to he may devour…” 1 Peter 5:4 (NKJV). From this, we see the enemy is on the loose, looking for his prey. He is looking for men and women out there, whom he can take advantage of and destroy their lives. His only job is to see men fail, suffer and struggle through life but you see, this is where you need to make a conscious decision to frustrate that plan of the devil. Unfortunately, many people are not cautious of this, interestingly, many do not even believe that the devil is actually on the loose, looking for men and women that he would take advantage of.

However, if you are reading this article now, it is proof that God loves you so much and wants you to escape the treacherous plan of the evil one. God wants you to become intentional so that no matter how the devil tries, you won’t fall for his schemes. Now, you may say, how do I effectively guard myself against being taken advantage of? Well, it is easy. The first thing you must know is that you are already in a position of advantage because you are in Christ Jesus. The second thing is that you must take your prayer life very seriously. A life of prayer is one of the major things that cause setbacks to the plans of the enemy. When you are a man or woman who prays, the devil will not be able to take advantage of you. You will always be a step ahead of him. Finally, live your life within the allowances of the word of God. Flee from those activities that give the devil the upper hand against you. There are activities that do not glorify God in any way. Flee from such and give yourself to daily prayers. If you can do this, the devil will be powerless towards you and you will never become his prey. Praise God!

Confession for the Day

Father, I am grateful for this wonderful counsel. I receive grace today to improve my prayer life and to align my life with the dictates of the word of God and as I do this, the devil remains powerless towards me in the Name of Jesus. Amen!
