“…then they came to Him, bringing a paralytic who was carried by four men. And when they could not come near Him because of the crowd, they uncovered the roof where He was…” Mark 2:3-4 (NKJV)
For many years, many believers have grown to think that receiving Jesus into their lives is all there is in this walk with God. But you see there is more to that, than meets the eyes. Receiving Jesus into your life is the first level of this walk in your life. After you have received Jesus into your life, it is expected that you carry out God’s plans and purpose on earth and to do this, you have to make sacrifices. Some people believe that that is not important but the truth remains that if you are truly going to follow God and serve Him, you must make sacrifices. Walking with God will cost you certain things, therefore, make a conscious decision to be sacrificial in your walk with God.
The question is, when the opportunity to serve in the house of God comes, will you be willing to make sacrifices and serve? When the opportunity to give towards the spread of the Gospel comes, will you be willing to make sacrifices? When the opportunity to help a specific person receive their healing or salvation comes, will you make the sacrifices required? Think about this! The Bible told us the story of a paralytic who needed to receive his healing and the people who were carrying him, couldn’t bring him to Jesus because of the crowd, so they decided to carry this young man to the roof of the building and dropped him from the roof. They went the extra mile for this young man. They could have easily given up when they saw the crowd, but they didn’t. Rather, they decided to make sacrifices and when they did, their sacrifices paid off. The young man walked out of that place healed (Scripture Reference: Mark 2:1-12). It is this kind of extra mile; God expects us to go. So, make a conscious decision, to make sacrifices for the one who gave Himself first for you.
