“While He was still speaking, someone came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house, saying to him, ‘Your daughter is dead. Do not trouble the Teacher.’ But when Jesus heard it, He answered him, saying, ‘Do not be afraid; only believe, and she will be made well.’” — Luke 8:49-50 (NKJV)
The story in today’s text is a remarkable account of faith in the face of fear. A synagogue ruler, desperate for his daughter’s healing, turned to Jesus for help. The situation was critical—his only daughter was dying. While they were on their way, the message came that she had already passed. This news could have plunged the ruler into despair, but Jesus immediately encouraged him: “Do not be afraid; only believe.”
This moment teaches a vital lesson. No matter how dire a situation appears, God calls us to stay calm and believe. The ruler could have panicked and given up, but he chose to trust Jesus, and his daughter was restored to life.
Beloved, this is how God wants us to handle challenges. Panic and worry only cloud our judgment and prevent us from seeing solutions. Instead, we are to remain calm and take control of our emotions and reactions. Maintaining composure allows us to hear God’s guidance and act in faith, just like the ruler in the story.
As you navigate life’s challenges, refuse to let fear take over. Choose faith instead. When you keep calm and trust in God, you position yourself to receive divine solutions. Just as Jesus brought life to what seemed like a hopeless situation, He will intervene in your situation as you rest in His promises. Hallelujah!
