“‘No one, sir,’ she answered. ‘Well, then,’ Jesus said, ‘I do not condemn you either. Go, but do not sin again.’” —John 8:11 (GNT)
One of the things Satan often does is push you toward condemnation, especially whenever you stumble in the Word or walk in error. But the question is, should you accept that condemnation? Should you begin to condemn yourself because of it? The answer is a big “No.”
As a believer, you must follow God with understanding. One truth you must come to terms with is that God does not condemn you. Yes, you heard me right. You might ask, “With all the sins I have committed, God does not condemn me?”
No, He doesn’t condemn you because He has already laid the condemnation on Jesus for your sake. Whatever condemnation should have come to you has been taken by our Lord. The Bible says, “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” —2 Corinthians 5:21 (NIV). Did you see that?
Now that we have been made the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, the Lord does not condemn us. However, He expects us to stay away from sin and not indulge in it. If you look at our opening text, we see that the woman caught in adultery was not condemned by Jesus.
Instead, the Master said, “Has no one condemned you?” “No one, sir,” she said. “Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.” —John 8:10-11 (NIV)
So, whatever the case may be, refuse to be condemned because God does not condemn you. However, you must make a conscious decision to forsake all the works of the flesh that the devil uses to accuse you and instead walk in the Spirit.
The Bible says, “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.” —Romans 8:1 (NKJV). Hallelujah!
Today’s Rhema
God does not condemn you, so do not condemn yourself!
Confession for the Day
Father, I am grateful for this wonderful teaching. I thank You for the sacrificial death of Your Son. I thank You for sending Jesus to take my place and pay the price for me. I choose therefore to reject every condemnation that the devil is pushing my way in Jesus’ name. Amen!
