“I am the bread of life,” Jesus told them. “Those who come to me will never be hungry; those who believe in me will never be thirsty.” —John 6:35 (GNT)
Have you eaten physical bread before? You will agree with me that bread is not only satisfying, but it is also filling. Now, if natural bread can keep you satisfied for a while, what happens with the spiritual bread we have received in Christ Jesus? It means that this Bread can bring us the satisfaction, fulfillment, nourishment, and blessings that we require. It means that it can keep us filled throughout the journey of life, and we will have no need for any other kind of spiritual bread that may be out there.
Therefore, as believers, we must cling to Jesus and derive all our satisfaction from Him. In the opening text, the Lord said, “I am the bread of life… Those who come to me will never be hungry; those who believe in me will never be thirsty.” —John 6:35 (GNT). Did you see that?
He didn’t stop there; He also said:
“I am the bread of life. Your ancestors ate manna in the desert, but they died. But the bread that comes down from heaven is of such a kind that whoever eats it will not die. I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If you eat this bread, you will live forever. The bread that I will give you is my flesh, which I give so that the world may live.” —John 6:48-51 (GNT)
Are you getting the point now? Jesus is the living bread. Because you have received Him into your life and you continue to abide in Him, you have all you need to live a glorious life in this world. You will not die but live to declare the praises of Him who has called you. Hallelujah!
