“Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.” – Psalm 119:11 (NKJV)

When you study the Word of God or hear it preached, where do you keep it? Do you keep it in your heart or only in your mind? Or do you just hear the Word and forget it in an instant? You should receive the Word into your heart and keep it there. Why, you might ask? Because your heart is good soil where life begins. The Bible says, “keep and guard your heart with all vigilance and above all that you guard, for out of it flow the springs of life” (Proverbs 4:23, AMPC). In the Message translation, it says, “keep vigilant watch over your heart; that’s where life starts” (Proverbs 4:23, MSG).

When you keep the Word in your heart, it grows and becomes what God has declared. If God has said that healing is yours in His Word, and you receive and keep it in your heart, it will grow and bring healing to you. Whatever God has promised, it will become that in your life. And when you face situations that suggest otherwise, you will not waver because His promises are deeply rooted in your heart.

So, make a conscious decision today to receive God’s Word and hide it in your heart, where it will gain the nutrients needed to take root, flourish, and produce the results God intends. Refuse to be like those who hear the Word and keep it only in their heads, where it does no lasting good. If you can discipline yourself to store the Word of God in your heart every time you hear it, you will improve your life in ways you never imagined. Don’t wait—start storing God’s Word in your heart today. Hallelujah!
