Don’t Just Pray, Have Fellowship (2)

The grace (favor and spiritual blessing) of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the presence and fellowship (the communion and sharing together, and participation) in the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen (so be it). —2 Corinthians 13:14 (AMPC)

In the first part of this article, we established the importance of having a robust fellowship life and why it is good to go beyond prayer into genuine communion with God. The reason you must take fellowship so seriously is that it is what God is truly looking for. He is not looking for men and women who only come to Him because they need help or who only care about their own wants.

Instead, He is looking for men and women after His own heart. That is why, after rejecting King Saul, God gave this testimony: “‘I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who will do all My will’” (Acts 13:22, NKJV).

When you take a close look at the life of King David, you see a man who was truly after the heart of God. He was the one who said, “I was glad when they said to me, ‘Let us go into the house of the LORD’” (Psalm 122:1, NKJV). He didn’t follow God just for what he could get; he followed God with a deep understanding of who He is, always desiring to spend time with Him and please Him. This is the kind of person God is looking for. If you take advantage of this truth and choose to prioritize fellowship, you will watch your prayer life produce unusual results.

Therefore, I encourage you today to stop pursuing needs and start chasing after the heart of God. When this is your focus, you won’t find it difficult to spend extended time in prayer. You won’t rush out of His presence; instead, you will stay there until you are satisfied.

Remember, it takes God nothing to intervene in your situation; what He is looking for is a person after His own heart who will do His will. So, take your fellowship with God seriously. As you do this, you will get to know what He wants from you. The moment you begin to align with His will, your own needs and desires will be sorted out as well. It may feel like a mystery, but this is the power of fellowship.

Today’s Rhema

If you can align with the heart of God, everything you are looking for will come to you easily!

Confession for the Day

I choose today to take my fellowship with God seriously. I choose to put it above all else, and I decree that as I do this, I am getting better at it and producing better results in my life, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
