“…All of us often make mistakes. But if a person never makes a mistake in what he says, he is perfect and is also able to control his whole being…”James 3:2 (GNT)
As believers, one of the things we must learn to do for ourselves is to control what we say with our mouth. Why, you might ask? The reason is that when you control what you say, you control your whole life. It sounds ridiculous, but trust me, this is the truth. In our opening text, the Bible says, “…all of us often make mistakes. But if a person never makes a mistake in what he says, he is perfect and is also able to control his whole being…” James 3:2 (GNT) Did you see that?
So the question is, What have you been saying? When you talk, are you conscious of what you are saying? Or do you just say anything that comes to mind? Many believers today make the mistake of saying anything that comes to mind, and this kind of attitude has put them in a lot of trouble. This is not the plan of God for your life. Therefore, I encourage you today to be conscious of this truth. Before you say anything concerning your life, your business, your marriage, or your family, you should pause and think about it. If what you’re about to say will negatively impact you or your hearer, it is better not to say it at all. The moment you begin to take this seriously, you will change the outcome of your life over time. Remember, the Bible says, “…you will have to live with the consequences of everything you say. What you say can preserve life or destroy it; so you must accept the consequences of your words…” Proverbs 18:20-21 (GNT) Hallelujah!
