“Not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord.” — Romans 12:11 (NKJV)
One of the attacks of the devil against many believers today is to make them grow cold in their Christian Walk. This is why you would often find believers who are comfortable skipping church, neglecting the Word, not winning souls, or even avoiding prayer. They’ve grown complacent to the point of justifying this lifestyle. But is this how God wants us to live? Certainly not.
Beloved, one thing you must be mindful of as a Christian is to stay fervent in your Christian Walk. You must consciously work to protect your fire for God. Reject anything that pulls you away from God or chokes your spiritual life. A cold spiritual life only gives the devil an advantage over you. It allows the enemy to feel at ease around you, and when the devil is comfortable, nothing works. His mission is clear — to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10).
So, fight to stay fervent in your walk with God. Stop making excuses for not praying, not winning souls, and not studying your Bible. If you have time for things that hold no eternal value, then surely you can make time for God, His Word, and His work. Paul the Apostle understood this and he urged the church to not lag in diligence but be fervent in spirit, serving the Lord. — Romans 12:11. Take this message seriously and commit to being fervent in your walk with God.
