…after all, we don’t want to unwittingly give Satan an opening for yet more mischief—we’re not oblivious of his sly ways! — (2 Corinthians 2:11 MSG)
Over time, I have met people who believe that demonic activities don’t exist. But the Bible tells us otherwise. The devil often deceives people into dismissing the works and activities of darkness so he can destroy lives unchecked. But as believers, we must not be ignorant of his schemes.
In Daniel chapter 10, we see a vivid example. Daniel set his heart to pray and fast for twenty-one days to understand troubling visions. At the end of that period, an angel appeared and said that from the first day Daniel began praying, God had heard him and sent the angel with answers—but the “Prince of Persia” had resisted him all those days until Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help (Daniel 10:12–13 NKJV). Because of demonic opposition, Daniel’s answer was delayed. Had he given up after one week, he would never have received it. His persistence brought angelic reinforcement.
This account confirms that demonic activities are real. Some may scoff, but the truth remains unchanged. As Christians, we must stay alert and walk in the authority Christ has given us, so we don’t become victims of the enemy’s mischief.
Remember, the Lord Jesus said, …these signs will follow those who believe: in My name they will cast out demons… — (Mark 16:17 NKJV). Hallelujah! Pay attention to the enemy’s tactics so you know when to exercise the authority you have in Christ Jesus.
