“…Since you are God’s dear children, you must try to be like him. Your life must be controlled by love, just as Christ loved us and gave his life for us as a sweet-smelling offering and sacrifice that pleases God…” Ephesians 5:1-2 (GNT‬‬).

Beloved, as you journey in your Christian walk, it matters what controls your life. If you are not conscious of what controls you, you will end up being controlled by hatred and bitterness. Today, you find people who speak ill about others, they are willing to go the extra mile just to see other people fall and they do this, not because they are offended by their victims, but because they derive pleasure in seeing other people fall. When you see such attributes in people, you just know that they are controlled by hatred and bitterness. Unfortunately, our world today is filled with these kinds of people. The reason, racism, backbiting, betrayal and the likes of it are so much in our world today, is because too many people are being controlled by hatred and not love.

However, if you are going to stand out and be different, you must consciously decide to be controlled by love and not bitterness. The Bible says, ‭‭“…Since you are God’s dear children, you must try to be like him. Your life must be controlled by love, just as Christ loved us and gave his life for us as a sweet-smelling offering and sacrifice that pleases God….”Ephesians 5:1-2 (GNT‬‬). Did you see that? I encourage you therefore to become conscious of what controls your life. Anytime you see yourself angry at people for no reason, then it’s obvious that bitterness has taken over. Anytime you see yourself being critical about others for no reason or even choosing to isolate yourself, you have given yourself to hatred and bitterness and trust me the outcome is not always a good one. So, if you want a better outcome, and better relationships with people, make a conscious decision to be controlled by love.

Confession for the Day

Thank you, Father, for empowering me with your word, I receive grace today to be influenced by love and I declare that every other thing that tries to influence me negatively is rebuked and cast out of my life in Jesus’ name. Amen!
