“…whoever wants to serve me must follow me, so that my servant will be with me where I am. And my father will honor anyone who serves me…” John 12:26 (NKJV)

Previously on this subject, we discussed the importance and benefits of being a Christian who serves. Now, it is important to understand that to be of service to God, you must make a decision to be committedly involved in the work of the ministry. That is, you must commit to becoming useful to the Body of Christ through your local church, that the church may grow and do better through your service. Oftentimes, many Christians do not realize that their local church needs them. They assume that the local church already has enough people but that is hardly the case. No matter how many workers exist in the local church, your input will still be needed because no one will serve as you would. Your service in the local church is unique and is therefore of great importance.

Where do I begin? You might ask. Well, simply locate a service department with activities that you can easily commit to. For example, if you think you can meet up with the activities of the Choir department or the ushering department, join them and be committed to their activities. At first, it may not seem like your input is making any difference but over time, your service will begin to make a remarkable difference.

So, wait no longer and start serving in the house of the Lord, and as you do this, you must remember that there is a reward for service because it is written, “…the laborer is worthy of His wages…” 1 Timothy 5:18 (NKJV). However, if you are going to enjoy this reward, you must choose to serve with all your heart and with all your strength. It is service like this that God rewards. And of course, beyond the house of the Lord, you should also consider serving humanity as well. With the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, you can come up with solutions that will make life easier. Interestingly, you don’t have to do too much to make an impact, it is your consistency and willingness that makes all the difference. So get to work and be useful to God and the world around you. All the people who ever got promoted in the Bible and given wonderful responsibilities were all found serving. If God is to visit you today, with a promotion in His mind for you, will He find you serving? Think about it!

Today’s Rhema

A life without service to God and Humanity only ends up in fruitlessness!

Confession for the Day

Thank you heavenly Father for these inspiring words, I declare this day that my life will be one of service. I will never be found idle or living for myself, I choose this day to make a difference, therefore by the power of the Holy Ghost, I will be found serving all the days of my life in the name of Jesus. Amen!
