“…whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave – just as the Son of man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many…” Matthew 20: 27-28 (NKJV)
Having established the truth about service to God in the first part of this article, it is important that you ponder hard on this reality. You have to understand that you have a role to play in the body of Christ. There is a purpose to fulfil, hence you were saved. Refuse to give in to that lie that says it’s okay to be in the kingdom and do nothing. Refuse to give in to that lie that says, it is okay to just be a member and not a worker. God is not looking for Children, He is looking for sons. Men and women who will come to Him and become laborers. Therefore, make a conscious decision to identify the purpose you have been called to fulfil in Christ Jesus and start fulfilling it. Until and unless you start fulfilling a role in the body of Christ, you can’t live a fulfilled life.
This is something I discovered many years ago. You will not get a certain fulfilment unless you are actively involved in the ministry of reconciliation and changing lives. So, I implore you today to become a serving Christian. Be the man serving not the one that is being served. Our Lord Jesus Christ said about Himself, that “the Son of man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many…” Matthew 20: 27-28 (NKJV). In that statement, He gave a perfect description of who a Christian is and what Christianity is all about. The earlier you serve the better for you. Interestingly, the moment you become a Christian who serves, you will be amazed at how it will change your life and the lives of others. Trust me, there is nothing as beautiful as seeing lives change for good, satisfaction is what brings you fulfilment. Praise God!
