“But I hope and trust in the Lord Jesus soon to send Timothy to you, so that I may also be encouraged and cheered by learning news of you. For I have no one like him [no one of so kindred a spirit] who will be so genuinely interested in your welfare and devoted to your interests. For the others all seek [to advance] their own interests, not those of Jesus Christ (the Messiah).”
—Philippians 2:19–21 (AMPC)

As a believer, are you concerned about the cause of Christ? Are you genuinely concerned about the spread of the Gospel and the work of the Kingdom? These are questions we must ask ourselves if we truly want to know where we stand in Christ.

It is possible to be in Christ and yet not be concerned about the cause of Christ, or interested in the things that interest Him. Sadly, this is the reality for many believers today. Some think Christianity is only about receiving salvation and nothing more. But the truth is, salvation is not the end of the journey; it is the beginning of a walk with God. That walk is marked by responsibility, commitment, and partnership with Him.

This journey is one in which God takes care of the affairs of your life while you attend to the work of His Kingdom. It is a divine arrangement where you make yourself available for His purposes, ensuring that God is not lacking labourers while you are present.

Today, you will find many believers who are deeply interested in matters that concern only themselves and their families. But when it comes to God and His work, they show little or no interest. This was also the case in the days of Paul the Apostle. While writing to the church in Philippi, he made this sobering observation:

“But I hope and trust in the Lord Jesus soon to send Timothy to you, so that I may also be encouraged and cheered by learning news of you. For I have no one like him… who will be so genuinely interested in your welfare and devoted to your interests. For the others all seek [to advance] their own interests, not those of Jesus Christ (the Messiah).”
—Philippians 2:19–21 (AMPC)

This should not be your story as a believer. God calls us to care about what concerns Him. His work and His Kingdom must be a priority in our lives. When this alignment is in place, you will be amazed at how God begins to move swiftly and decisively in your life. Hallelujah!

Prayer

Father, I am grateful for opening my eyes to this truth. I choose this day to take the work of the Kingdom seriously. As I do this, I declare that I am bearing fruit and making progress in every area of my life, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
