“…above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it…” Proverbs 4:23

In the first part of this article, we saw how important the heart is to our victory. We were able to establish the fact that, if you are going to be successful or victorious in life, it all begins with the heart. Now, we will be looking at a few examples from the Bible to help us understand how men of old applied this principle and were victorious. One of such examples is the case of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednigo. They were faced with a life threatening situation which was enough to make them cower but they did not, instead they remained determined to obey God and not bow to the demands of the king. In their determination, they said, ”…If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand. But even if he does not, we want you to know, your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up…” Daniel 3:17‭-‬18 (NIV) Did you see that? Can you imagine the boldness and the audacity they had?

In the face of death, they held on to what they believe. Their conviction was out of this world. Interestingly, they went as far as saying to the king, “But even if he does not, we want you to know, your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up…” Daniel 3:17‭-‬18 (NIV). They had settled it in their hearts and that was final. The question is, did it help them? Of Course, you know the rest of the story. They were thrown into the furnace of fire all tied up together, however the Bible recorded that, “…Nebuchadnezzar then approached the opening of the blazing furnace and shouted, “Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, servants of the Most High God, come out! Come here!” So Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego came out of the fire, and the satraps, prefects, governors and royal advisers crowded around them. They saw that the fire had not harmed their bodies, nor was a hair of their heads singed; their robes were not scorched, and there was no smell of fire on them…” Daniel 3:26-‬27 (NIV). How did this happen? Well, it all started in their hearts and it manifested in their life. Beloved, what you would be, who you will become, and what you can do, all begin from what you have in your heart. Therefore, refuse to allow defeat and this attitude will help you stand stronger, endure longer, and fight better. Never give up in your heart, because that’s where the key to your success lies. Hallelujah!

Confession for the Day

Blessed Heavenly Father! Thank you for opening my eyes today, to know what you need me to know. I declare that from today, I will only hold on to positive opinions and ideas, I choose to see light even though everywhere is dark. I choose to see solutions even though things are pretty complicated. I choose to keep fighting until my success is manifested in the name of Jesus. Amen!
