saying, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.” —Luke 22:42 (NKJV)

Have you ever come to that point in your life where all you are asking God is, “When will this cup pass over me? When will these troubles end?” If you have experienced that or are currently asking such questions, I have good news for you: you are not alone. Everyone goes through that stage at some point in life.

Even Jesus reached that point where He prayed, “Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done” (Luke 22:42, NKJV). This was when He was about to pay the ultimate price. He saw what was coming, yet He faced it because it was the very reason He came. Although He had the option to turn away, He knew this was a cup He had to drink.

He didn’t stop there. The Bible recorded that “And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground” (Luke 22:44, NKJV). He didn’t give up or complain; rather, He faced the situation and allowed God’s plan to take its full course. After this was done, He achieved the victory and was given the name that is above every other name.

Beloved, you too can prevail just as our Lord Jesus did, but you must be strong and face your situation with courage and resilience. This is what it takes to overcome. Some situations will not go away until you pass through them, and often, such situations are designed for your growth and establishment. Therefore, instead of asking, “When will this cup pass?” or “Lord, why me?” channel that strength into prayer. As you do this, you will receive the grace to overcome and prevail. Hallelujah!

Today’s Rhema

If you channel your strength into prayer and maintain an attitude of resilience, you will prevail over your situation!

Confession for the Day

Father, I am grateful for this wonderful truth. I choose this day to stay strong and courageous. I choose to pray and not give up. As I do this, I am prevailing and coming out victoriously, in Jesus’ name. Amen!
