“…and my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus…” Philippians 4:19 (NIV)

Someone once told me, with all conviction, that you can’t have a relationship with God because He is an invisible being. He said, you can only have a relationship with things you can touch and feel and actually see. This made me laugh because I realized that when people discover that they are unable to attain several heights in life, they term it as impossible not considering that someone else might already be doing it. Beloved, you can have a relationship with God. In fact, God deals with every one of us uniquely according to the relationship we have with Him. In the bible, God referred to Abraham as His friend, it says “But you Israel are my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the descendants of Abraham, My Friend.” Isaiah 41:7 (NKJV). From this account we see that God had a unique relationship with Abraham and called him His friend. This goes to show that every one of us can have a special and extraordinary relationship with God. And it’s not a question of whether we can see Him or feel Him or touch Him.

The word of God was given to us, to help us know who God is, understand Him and actually develop a special relationship with Him. A lot of people seem to think that what God is looking for is only worship. That’s wrong, God is looking for much more than worship, He is looking for love. Even when He gave Moses the commandment, the most important of all was, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and with all your strength.” Deuteronomy 6:5 (NIV). Jesus Christ in the book of Matthew 22:38 said, “This is the first and greatest commandment.” Meaning, that love is much more important to God than anything in the world. Therefore, you must make a conscious decision to cultivate a relationship with God and this begins with developing hunger for God’s word and His presence. And also showing concern for the things God is concerned about. When you begin to operate like this, God will perfect the rest and give you encounters that will help you to know that you are in a true relationship with Him. Most of the people we read about in the Bible from Abraham to Jesus Christ had a personal relationship with God and so too can do the same. Hallelujah!

Today’s Rhema

Having a real relationship with the Father is a huge possibility, but you must be interested in it, if you want it to happen!

Confession for the Day

Father, I am grateful for making it possible to have a relationship with you. I therefore decree that the grace to actively be involved in this relationship is at work in my life and as I attend to this relationship, I am living a fruitful and glorious life in the name of Jesus. Amen!
