“…in those days, I, Daniel, was mourning three full weeks. I ate no pleasant food, no meat or wine came into my mouth, nor did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled…” Daniel 10:2-3 (NKJV)
Beloved, do you know that Getting God’s attention is not a difficult thing to do? Well, in case you do not know I am telling you now. All that is required of you is to give Him your attention and you will get His attention. It is that simple. Over the years, quite a lot of people think the problem is getting God’s attention, but the truth is that God’s attention was never far away. It has always been there. You have God’s attention every moment of the day, but the reason you don’t think you have God’s attention is because you are not giving Him your own attention. Therefore, you have to make a conscious decision to give God your attention and you will connect to His attention which has always been available to you from the moment you became born again.
In our opening text, we see the story of Daniel who received a message from God. He understood what the message was talking about and realized that the appointed time was long, so he decided to wait on the Lord by giving God His own attention. He decided to go on a three-week prayer and fasting exercise, to hear more from God and to know what God was going to say to him concerning the revelation that he received. And guess what? From the very first day he chose to seek the face of God, he got God’s attention and an angel was released to give him a message. But how did he do it? He gave God his own attention and that helped him to immediately connect to what God wanted to say.
Beloved, I don’t know what you might be going through right now, but if you truly want to get God’s attention and know His will for your life concerning that matter at hand, give Him your attention. Most times, people want to know what God is saying but they are not willing to pay attention or spend time with the Lord to know what He is saying. However, if you want your case to be different, be like Daniel, who took out three weeks to discipline himself to stay away from all manner of distractions, so that he could hear from God, and it worked. God has said, “…I will pour water on him who is thirsty…” Isaiah 44:3 (NKJV). So get thirsty and you will get God’s attention. You don’t have to necessarily wait on God for three weeks like Daniel, the idea here is that if you will tune your attention to God, you will certainly receive God’s attention. Praise God!
