“…then, as they were afraid and bowed their faces to the earth, they said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen…” Luke 24:5-6b (NJKV)
In the opening scripture, we see that some of the disciples of Jesus Christ went to visit the grave where he was buried, but when they got there, His body was gone. And the women were surprised, wondering what had happened to the master. They saw two angels seated by the empty tomb of Jesus and the angels spoke to them saying, “why do you seek the living among the dead?” Indicating that even though the grave was a place for the dead, Jesus had no business being there because He was now alive. In the same way, you are not dead but alive to God.
You who were dead in sin and trespasses have been resurrected to life through the sacrificial death of our Lord Jesus Christ. You who were supposed to be in darkness have been taken away from darkness and translated to a kingdom of life and light. So celebrate this truth, now and all the days of your life because it holds the key to your exploits both in this life and in the life to come.
You might ask why this is so significant. Well, it is because every man you see today has a call to answer at one point or the other and this is the call of death. The Bible says “…everyone must die once, and after that be judged by God…” Hebrews 9:27 (GNT). Now, when this happens, you will be exempted because you died in Christ and your sins have been judged in Christ Jesus. But those who have rejected the sacrifice of Jesus Christ will not be exempted because they did not believe in what Jesus Christ did. So, rejoice everyday of your life, knowing full well that you are not dead to God but alive to Him. Hallelujah!
