Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed: “Remember, Lord, that I have served you faithfully and loyally, and that I have always tried to do what you wanted me to.” And he began to cry bitterly… —Isaiah 38:2-3 (GNT)
When life gets tough, many are tempted to do three things: turn to people for help, get discouraged, and eventually give up. Some even go as far as considering suicide when they feel they can’t take it anymore. However, the truth remains that this is not how God wants us to respond to trials. Such a response reflects a lack of faith in God, a trend that has become far too prevalent in our world today.
As a believer, God wants you to be different because we are not a people without hope. No matter how hopeless a situation may seem, we are supposed to turn to God and not to men. The solution you are looking for can only be found in God, but you must be willing to diligently turn to Him and seek Him with all your heart —Hebrews 11:6 (NKJV).
When we look at the Scriptures, we find many accounts of people who were in hopeless situations and received a solution because the first thing they did was turn to God. A perfect example of this is King Hezekiah. He was deathly ill and received a message stating he would die, but he didn’t accept that as the final report. He knew where to turn for a different outcome.
The Bible says, …Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed: “Remember, Lord, that I have served you faithfully and loyally, and that I have always tried to do what you wanted me to.” And he began to cry bitterly… —Isaiah 38:2-3 (GNT). He was a man who knew he had God. Do you know what happened next? The Lord responded to his prayer with a miraculous promise.
…Then the Lord commanded Isaiah to go back to Hezekiah and say to him, “I, the Lord, the God of your ancestor David, have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will let you live fifteen years longer. I will rescue you and this city of Jerusalem from the emperor of Assyria, and I will continue to protect the city” —Isaiah 38:4-6 (GNT). Because he turned to the Lord, he received his solution. If you want solutions this year, don’t turn anywhere else but to God, and everything you seek will be granted to you. Hallelujah!

Confession for the Day
Father, I am grateful for this wonderful teaching. No matter what I face or go through, I refuse to give in or give up. I choose to turn to You always, and as I do this, I am breaking forward and breaking through in Jesus’ name. Amen!
