You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. —John 15:3 (NKJV).
Do you sometimes wonder why we press the importance of studying the Bible regularly? If you do, you’re not alone. As a young believer, I thought the teaching I heard at church was enough and preferred easy-to-read Christian books over the Bible itself. I treated Scripture as optional because other resources felt simpler to digest.
Everything changed during a season when I was confined at home for about six months. With few distractions, I began to study the Bible daily. As I read, I noticed a growing peace and a gradual change in my thinking. My habits and reactions shifted to match what God’s Word taught, and patterns that once held me back began to fall away.
Over time the Word reshaped my character. The anger that used to flare up faded, patience and gentleness grew, and forgiving others stopped being so difficult. The more I fed on Scripture, the more my life aligned with Christ. Looking back, I can say without hesitation that the Word truly cleansed and established me.
Beloved, God doesn’t only want to save your soul—He wants to transform you. He desires to form Christ in you so you represent Him well in your world (Eph 4:12-13). But transformation requires your participation: you must become studious and give yourself to the Word. The enemy will whisper reasons to neglect Scripture, but that’s not God’s plan. Embrace the discipline of Bible study and allow God to cleanse, develop, and position you for who He ordained you to be.
Choose today to cultivate a hunger for the Word. Fight distractions, make time to read and meditate, and watch how the Word cleanses and establishes every area of your life. Praise God!
